Do you have what it takes to win a million Euros? Beat ‘em up, a new TV format, is looking for Berlin’s best martial artists to fight each other in a televised tournament. The eyes of the entire city are on a select group of fighters while they search for happiness, fame and fortune. To claim final victory, each contestant must not only face opponent after opponent, but face their own personal demons and struggles.
Beat ’em up combines emotional, authentic storytelling around a diverse character ensemble – including female martial artists who have to stand their ground against the stronger sex (or so it seems) – with white-knuckle martial arts fights, all encompassed within the glossy and spectacular world of a TV show.
Yet, in the end, there can only be one champion. The outcome of the fights will often be surprising and unpredictable, teaching the contestants time and again that they might have to accept a few loses in order to win it all. However upon the tournament’s conclusion, everyone involved will be able to walk away with new friendships, challenges, and stories forged along the way.
